Do you trust yourself? A key to self-expression, fulfillment and powerful decision-making
I remember in college how I first discovered that I had no idea what I wanted or truly who I was for that matter. I changed my major three times and I didn't even know what clothes I liked-I just wore what everyone else wore and what I'd always worn!
It wasn't until I was in my early thirties that I discovered what kind of clothing I loved-clothes that felt like a form of self-expression instead of one...

It seems safe to say we all want to feel good. We want to feel healthy and energized, to have a sense of peace and vitality in our lives.
Whether we're aware of it or not, managing our energy is an art form. It's no accident the days that we have high energy or low energy, the blues or bliss- it all gets created by a number of factors, many of which are within our control.
One factor that is particularly sneaky that I want t...

Let Your Rhythm Guide You to a Life You Love
If I were to boil down a frequent root theme of what gets in the way of living a life you love, it would likely be making choices that don't align with your truest, deepest rhythm of life. You somehow find yourself swept up in the rhythm of everyone else's lives, society, the grind, being over-committed and voila, your life is shaped by happenstance rather than intention. And then as a result, it isn't necessarily a life you'd say you love.

Endings into Beginnings A Powerful Key to the Natural Flow of Life
To everything there is a season, a beginning and an ending. Life is an ever-evolving kaleidoscope of experiences, choices, successes and celebrations, as well as defeats and disappointments, with little permanency.
Sometimes we move into endings kicking and screaming and other times we sprint towards the finish line, aching to be complete with our toiling.
Endings are incredibly powerful times of life, potentially...

Ask people how they are, and nearly every person says "Oh I've been SO busy!" It is the new norm. Unfortunately.

We all remember a time that we were in the midst of a new beginning. We stood on new territory, not entirely sure how to navigate from where we were, to where we wanted to be. We wished for any kind of guidance, to be saved from a few common mistakes, or yearned to simply have a conversation with a person of influence, who could see our gifts. At that time, we sat in a cocktail of fear, excitement, uncertainty and motivation, with all our hopes and dreams brimming over the edge.

Mind, Body, Spirit
How much joy is too much? When does one have enough joy? Is there some kind of measure that tells us if we are getting what we need, laughing enough, smiling enough for the right chemical balance or the right personal fulfillment?
I am not one for extensive statistics so I can only speak from my experience, personal study and clients. What I notice is that many of us could use some more JOY in our lives. When I am happy and my life is full of joy, I feel optimistic, more energized and above ...

Growth- Break Through to Your Potential--Dec 03 Part One
Growth Reaching down to the depths of the soul, growth challenges us to expand. Perhaps it is the leap of faith for a new career opportunity, home, city or relationship. Perhaps it is the closing of one door and the opening of another. Growth stretches us to our limits, at times more than we feel capable. Growth can be exciting, scary, painful, uplifting or sad. It can appear as loss or as a powerful addition to your life.

Motivation: Inspiration vs. Fear
In motivation there are a couple schools of thought — Inspiration/ Benefits: “I know that ‘blah blah blah’ is good for me and will cause me to feel x, y and z so I will do it.” We see a possibility, the possibility gets us excited for what might be in our lives and voila- we're in action! Maybe you meet a person or see a show or attend a class and it gets you in motion. These are all examples of motivation through inspiration.

Go For It!The time is now!
We all have a little seed inside, a seed of inspiration. Perhaps we were born with it or maybe it showed up later in life. It's that thing that lights a fire in your belly when you think about the possibility of it. When you imagine that it might happen in your life, you can't help but smile and feel a flutter of excitement.
What are you waiting for?
Though everything is about choices and timing, if not now, when? (However, it is possible that dreaming ...

Keep Moving- A tool for motivation and energy Part One
The Chain Reaction If you sit at a desk or are generally in one location throughout the course of the day, break it up! Every hour get out of your chair and move around, shake it baby, shake it! The progression looks a little like this: you sit for a long time in one spot, the blood pools to your lower body, your muscles stiffen around your joints, your low back fatigues, and shoulders roll forward causing the muscles in between the shoulder...

The Fine Art of Alignment September 2003
Consequences of Mis-Alignment Being out of alignment in our lives can create strong “symptoms.” When this happens we may feel unhappy, frustrated, impatient, worried, confused, angry, discouraged, apathetic, or bored. Resultantly, we don’t always take the best care of ourselves, which ironically seems to compound the feelings. Doing the Work The learning path to alignment is filled with opportunities to grow, and takes as long as it takes. Good news! ...
A Quiet Little Voice At some point you have likely experienced a “gut feeling.” Whether it was actually in your gut, the back of your mind or in your heart, you had a sense of knowing. Perhaps you acted against your gut and hired a person you felt oddly about, and turned out to be a major flop. Perhaps driving home you took a different route and “coincidentally” there was a major traffic jam on your normal route. Coincidence? Maybe. Intuition? Why not?

Claim Your Gifts A Key to Finding Meaning
I've noticed a fascinating, wide-spread phenomenon...we disregard our gifts and innate talents as "normal," mistakenly assuming that everyone can do what we naturally can do. As a result of considering our gifts normal, we shrug them off, thinking them no big deal, and carry on with our ever-determined search to create meaningful work. We have no idea that our holy grail is laying right within us.
Many years ago I worked as a staff recruiter, hirin...

Creating Security from Within March 2003 *Note- though this article was written 7 years ago, it is still so relevant to our lives today...amazing how uncertainty is always with us!
The State of the World We likely agree that the state of the world is a bit confusing at the moment. There is a sense of uncertainty, of life on “hold”, of “waiting to see” what will happen, if things will escalate or subside. With uncertainty comes fear, peeking in the windows of our experience, raising doub...

We all have different driving forces and motivators in our lives.
Many of our driving forces, whether recognition, accomplishment, service, abundance, can be traced back to our belief systems and what we learned to be important.
What are your beliefs? Often we aren't even aware of a majority of our “life shaping” beliefs? For example what do you believe about wealth, stability, travel, adventure, tradition, parenting, hard work, poverty, politics? ...

Your Most Important Commitment…You December 2002- Part one
Everyone Else First! Funny isn’t it that we are so willing to put other people or our career first, saving very little for ourselves? You might be driven…by your career, family or community obligations. Does everyone know you’re a hard worker, always there to help out, kind, giving, devoted? If a job needs doing, you’re the one! You may even feel you have “no time” for yourself, that you are sooo busy, you occasionally do...
Do You? . . . Ever catch yourself saying what you think another person wants to hear rather than what you believe? Ever wear particular clothing because you feel you “should” and it is what others might expect, despite that it is not really “you?” Do you have a “secret” aspect of yourself that you don’t express for fear of being judged, rejected, criticized or unloved?
Only You Suffer You may feel you are protecting yourself or othe...

Willing to Be Me
There is a great quote by Sabrina Ward Harrison, “If you’re not yourself, who will be?” It really resonates with me. I realize that there’s a really strong likelihood that who I am and who you are, are individualized, unique creations, designed for a special life, if we are willing to go for it. It’s become clear to me that to be myself, I actually must have courage, I must be willing to risk being seen, willing to do some things that fall outside of the “norm...

Setting up Support to Thrive: The Importance of Ease
After coaching for 10 years, I’ve found that while clients are in transition to living the life they love, support is essential. Support takes a variety of shapes, whether specific types of people, teams, systems, environments, or activities—all help clients to thrive. We were not meant to do it all by ourselves! And for me, it’s got to be easy—so easy that I don’t have to think about it; that it feels somewhat effortless and...

Remember When? Do you remember a time you felt truly happy, carefree and maybe a bit silly? Beta-Endorphin and You Aside from the visible benefits of exercise (toned muscles, weight loss), there are chemical benefits too. Beta-endorphin. You might be wondering what is Beta-endorphin? When you dream big dreams, and KNOW that you have gifts that you wish to bring to light in your life, it is easy to slip into overwhelm.
It's not about a one-day transformation, rather a gradual unfolding. Think of a fern that grows in the forest...it doesn't go from seed to full-grown fern in a day--it is a slow development and opening.
It's easy to get overwhelmed when we're facing our big dreams. All I can do in those moments is keep my eye on the end game and set my 30 minute timer for ... Continue reading ...
