How Free ARE You?
A Deeper Freedom
Rising Above Circumstance to Live Your Vision
A definition of Freedom it goes something like this:
1. the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint.
2. exemption from external control, interference, regulation, etc.
3. the power to determine action without restraint.
We are incredibly fortunate to have our freedom politically-to be able to express ourselves and make all kinds of choices about how to live our lives based on what we want, not what someone tells us we must do.
Ironically, despite the freedom that is available to us, many folks are still left with a deep yearning for greater freedom-feeling that they are stuck in confining circumstances. Unfortunately these confining circumstances are often the result of a series of choices that they made over time. However, the good news is that circumstances are surmountable 99% of the time.
No one decides one day, "I'd like to force myself to work 80 hours a week to cover expenses for a high-end lifestyle that leaves me with no time to enjoy it." However, one small choice here and another there, and before you know it, a tricky situation's been created that feels anything but liberating.
The Way Out- -Big Picture Perspective
It's so easy to get caught up in the rhythm of a certain way of living. We have times when we're really conscious about our choices and other times when we say yes to things before thinking them through. Or we make an impulsive choice that has unanticipated consequences-creating a new layer of commitment, complexity or challenge that we might not otherwise have chosen.
A former client of mine ran her own business and had done an amazing job of it. She'd created a top notch company in her region, where clients from all over sought her out due to quality and reputation. And then she realized she'd like to start shifting toward the next phase of her life-in the direction of retirement, more time at home and with family while still having her business running on its own.
She devoted to creating a vision, to laying out the plan and being in action with it. She took a step back to look at the big picture of how she was living, working and leading, and realized that for the new phase of her business she'd need to make some adjustments. She was willing to make new choices. Over and over again, new choices. After several months and a series of new choices, she began aligning with a new lifestyle and was totally thrilled.
This could be you--whatever your version or circumstance. In whatever way you crave freedom.
All it takes is a new series of choices, (often seemingly minute choices), which align with the greater vision you have for your life. (And if you don't have a vision yet, perhaps you'll enjoy the Transforming Your Intentions Into Actions program that starts in August!) http://tinyurl.com/Transforming-Aug2011
It's never too late to liberate yourSELF from circumstance, and align with your Freedom.
Best wishes,
Robin
